The deep brown background in HULA is a like rich earth, providing depth for the outlined and opaque shapes that intersect above it. It started with a photograph of orchids that were digitally abstracted, then taking the beautiful elements of the shape of the flower, and turning it into a pattern.
Three silhouetted figures cross the picture field in a line dance. A striking red bolt intersects near the middle, creating a bold pull drawing the viewer's eye back and forth through their spirited journey.
