Mimi & Coco 4Ever

from $110.00

In the AbFab III phase of the collection, I’m creating collages that aren’t necessarily blended into one flow or statement. I build vignettes from my archived pieces that I’ve made, saved, collected, and curated. These visual chapters are meant to evoke places, time, memories, and emotions. I’m constructing a narrative with open possibilities for anyone’s journey or interpretation.

I want to provide something for viewers to think about, something that they haven’t seen before. In this work, I’m telling stories with images from my archive bank. It’s my history, and it’s my present, as I’m experiencing it and sharing it.

This piece is a frothy confection about the spirit of friendship, and the gift that it is. The title came from a jot in the sign-in book at Java Love on Church St in Montclair. As a collage artist, I pick up on everything that speaks to me—like a seagull swooping down on a breadcrumb at the beach. I don’t know who Mimi and Coco are, but the spirit of their friendship—lives on in this collage. I hope it honors them, and all the zillions of friendships out there. Friendship is such a beautiful state of being … a real joy boomerang for us all.
