P.S. There's Cake
I was obsessed with a photograph that I saw in Vogue, of a model wearing a Chanel outfit—a hot pants jumpsuit with a matching coat and purse in ribbons of pink, blue and gold logo print—standing in front of a taxicab yellow jeep, in front of a midnight blue sky. I loved the contrast of the hot, orangey-yellow against the deep blue, with the bright, glittery pastels of the couture piece.
I was drawn to recreate these colors and textures in an abstract painting, layered with collage elements.
Why the title? Making this piece was so much fun that it felt like the cake at the end of a party.
