The Wallpaper Collage series emerged from layering mixed media compositions onto printed samples of my original wallpaper designs. These richly textured works blend abstract forms, vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and fragments of drawings and paintings—creating visual narratives that invite open interpretation and emotional connection.

Random acts of balancing are at the heart of this piece—colors that clash, yet harmonize, and forms that appear unrelated yet guide the eye easily across the picture plane. The composition is still, but movement unfolds from right to left, center to edge, up and down in quiet motion.

The background—an abstracted version of an original wallpaper pattern in purple, red, and peach—anchors the scene. On the right, a vertical purple and red bar, punctuated by cut-out dots, echoes the pattern and rises like a candle with a cartoon-like flame, flickering against a field of chartreuse. At the center, a loosely defined box of shapes seems unconnected to its surroundings, yet it grounds the composition. Nearby, a sweeping curve in red-orange, violet, and navy stands like a sentry announcing the scene.

This piece is a meditation on deference and cool composure—on holding space for excitement, growth, and curiosity. It gestures toward moving forward with an open heart and mind, even in the midst of vibrant tension.
